I think this song is about someone that is meant for you, but it just isn't working out. The person probably means to the world to you but because things are so bad, you can't love the person the way you want to. You know it's best for you to move on, so you lockdown your emotions so you can try to get over this person. If you don't hide your emotions, then you'll lose yourself. So you hide your emotions from your friends and set a secret code for that person so you can still think about them, but no one else will know...Does it sound like me??? ;)
